1. Last night Owen and Turner were going around with microphones (that didn't work). Owen kept chanting, "JUMP AROUND GOLLY!" And after one round of his sing song chants, threw in, "WHAT Y'ALL SAYIN'? I DON'T CARE!"
2. Hubs and I finally went on that date we were supposed to do. We had dinner with my girlfriend and her husband. YUM to twice baked poatoes.
3. I've decided I will NOT be talking about work when we go out anymore. Even with the best advice from people who are quality managers, no one can fully comprehend all the pieces of the puzzle with which I'm dealing.
4. Our basketball team only has one game left. My lower lip is sticking out. These kids have been fantastic.
5. Today I get to be two people at work...and being myself is not included in this equation. One of my gals was scheduled for vacation, another got called for jury duty. FANTASTIC for me.
6. While watching a movie last night, there was a quote that explained perfectly why my character and make-up may or may not be made for corporate America.
"You can't make yourself happy bringing misery to other people."
7. I'm late to the party, but in celebration of Black History Month, and in an effort to use it as a tool for education....here is a link that I ask and encourage you to read. Many Blacks today continue to pass this knowledge down to each generation, but Whites do not. Therefore, Whites walk around in ignorance and do not know that they may be offending without intent. It is important to know where someone different from ourselves is coming from before we pass judgment that they are being sensitive without cause. Please read.
8. There are many other things to learn from that site, so please take time and browse.
9. It wasn't until I missed a very personal post by a dear friend here in Blogland that I realized how much I've MISSED in general. I need to catch up. I need to try and find time. Just know that I miss you if I haven't been around in awhile!!
10. Mom, thanks for making it up to so many of Turner's basketball games. It's meant a lot, especially since you've been busy quilting over the past months. Looking forward to seeing you Saturday, and I hope you're staying for the pizza party! :)
Happy Monday all.

Happy Monday!
I love that quote. It's so very true!
Have a great week!
Oh Monday, Monday. Is it as gloomy there as it is here? Cause it's so dreary in NYC. Blah.
1. Owen's going to be a rap star. Just watch.
2. Yay for dates! A. and I went out Friday night and ended up having s'mores at this chocolate restaurant.
3. I do the same thing myself. It's as if I have NOTHING else to talk about with others if it's not work or weather related :/
4. Will you be coaching again next season? You seemed to really enjoy doing it and the kids sound like they had a blast too.
5. Yipers man. Good luck with that.
6. That's why I fully believe that happiness comes from making others smile. If anything, it stops you from focusing on yourself and your issues. It gets you out of your head even if just for a bit.
7. Great link! I'll have to dig around in there and see what else I can learn.
9. It's okay, dear. We all need to fall back and concentrate on our real life stuff even if it's just doing nothing. Keeping up with that AND Internet stuff can be exhausting sometimes so no worries. No one's going to fault you for missing things. I missed you too though :)
10. That's so sweet of her to make time for her grandchildren. I wish I were close to mine, but distance made that quite hard I guess. Even though I have anti-social tendencies I know it's important to maintain those family ties. I get lazy and don't reach out, visit or call cousins and extended family I used to be so close to. I miss them, but neither side puts in the effort to reconnect. Maybe I'll make a few calls tonight.
It also dawned on me that it's now been an entire year since my mom has come to my house despite my invites. Woman lives 15 minutes away, if that, and still. She'd rather stay home. It hurts when I think about it yeah, but what can you do? I just know that I don't want to end up semi-isolated from friends and family because I don't put in effort to nurture those connections.
That said, it'd be nice if people reached out to me every once in a while, dammit!
Okay, enough ranting. And save me a slice, will you?
Uncle Jimmy should be there on Saturday too :) especially if there's a pizza party!!
Happy Monday to you! And very interesting link. I plan on digging my way around there a bit.
It's sweet that your mom goes to so many games. I wish i were closer to my niece so that I could go watch her cheer.
2. Double yum to twice baked potatoes!
6. Amen!
7. Bookmarked the site!
I agree with Dorkys...you have Lil rap stars in the making.Yay, for date nights! Work shouldn't be a puzzle...work is work, but I think you have put it in the right perspective by not letting in consume your thoughts after hours.
Thanks for the Black History reading...this article was very illuminating. I often tell people that there is a difference between racism (overt acts to oppress, dehumanize and marginalize) and racial insensitivity (attitudes and actions born from ignorance). I have personally encountered the special MLK Day lunch of fried chicken, greens, and cornbread. The cafeteria mgmt thought they were being reverent.
I don't know that people enjoy other's misery as much as they are blinded by their own ambition as to see that they are causing misery to others.
I haven't been called to jury duty since moving to this new county and, well, I'm happy but I'm wondering why I haven't popped upon their radar yet. Yes, I have changed my address with the DMV and my voter reg. Weird.
