In my case, living without the internet at my fingertips hasn't ended my world. Maybe my connection with friendly strangers and intimate acquaintances and immediate gratification from those who read my dribbles. But not my world. At least not yet.
So what's been marching on? Let's see...
I've become an aunt this week. No longer the only mommy! My older brother and his beautiful wife had a bundle of blue joy enter the world Tuesday morning. I have already arranged a much needed vacation for next month, assuming my nephew would be here, and I'm excited to meet him. I saw pictures tonight and he's adorable. OF COURSE. All closely related babies are adorable. It's a mentally programmed requirement.
My ever-schooling sister graduates from law school this weekend. I cannot wait to re-visit my alma mater campus, even if the weather might end up being less than ideal. Such a scary thought that all of my siblings are officially done with school, grown up, and ready to be swallowed by this ever-evil working world.
Evie will be one next month. ONE. She's a walking, babbling, big haired bundle of attitude and sass and humor. She.Is.Fun.
Owen has transitioned to the 'big kid' drop-off room with success, without tears, and loving it. Now if we can just get him to WANT to learn the essential pre-school staples. Letters and their corresponding sounds, writing, and telling the truth. Yes, he lies. It's so NOT endearing.
Turner is rounding out his successful first year in the public school system. I'm SO happy I decided to bump him to first grade. I think he enjoyed it, learned a few things, and made some friends. It also shaped his perspective that not all children would be kind, considerate, or your friend. Unfortunately, learning different strokes for different folks is part of life, and he's handled it pretty well. He expresses himself at home, asks why people behave the way they do, and seeks the right path. I can only hope it continues. In the meantime, we're working on his baseball swing, and gearing up for flag football.
Till decided to join a baseball participation league this spring and has been enjoying himself. It's hard to believe he went from the size and age of Turner when he moved in with us, and is now as tall (or maybe taller?) than me now, growing fuzzy hair on his lip, and pretending to be cool. Junior High does funky things to kids, and I'm not all that excited about it, but hey.....they grow out of it. Right?
So much to say, to tell, to release. Not enough time. It's interesting how facets of one's life can impair the others. That's the virus of the virtual world where nothing is personal anymore...or too much so? In any case, I look forward to the day when my words are able to babble freely again here in this space.
In the interim, hugs and kisses to those who need it, kicks in the shins to those who deserve it, and a double flip off to those who have earned it.
